1923372 - Limitation on number of Items in CRM documents (Sales orders, Service Orders, Contracts, Quotes, Invoice...)

Symptom

You want to know if system has limitation or recommended number of line items in CRM documents (Sales orders, Service Orders, Contracts, Quotes, ...) when you create it manually / via excel upload / via migration / via webservices.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

System does not work reliably (dumps/times out) if number of items in CRM documents exceed more than 100 items.

Resolution

For better performance and reliable system behavior the recommendation is 100 line items or less. Creating documents with more than 100 items is strongly discouraged as the system performance degrades as more items are added. Less than 100 line items would be better for performance and follow up processes to run smoothly.

In addition, it is not possible to specify the performance issues that could occur whenever more than 100 lines items are maintained in a sales document, as the system does not behave in a consistent manner.
