2884665 - "Unable to connect to datasource" when creating an OData connection with Basic Authentication in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) & SAP Digital Boardroom

Symptom

The following error "Unable to connect to datasource" occurs when creating an Import Data Connection to an On-Premise OData service with Basic Authentication parameter enabled in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC):

  • OData Service URL uses ?auth=b parameter to force Basic Authentication to be used, bypassing SAML authentication
  • OData Service URL works in a browser window and POSTMAN

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2020.1.0

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Log in to SAP Analytics Cloud
  2. Create a Connection to an On-Premise OData Service
  3. In the OData Service URL textbox, enter the OData Service URL ending in ?auth=b
  4. Observe the error message
