2870733 - "unexpected internal server error" when models are refreshed in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Symptom

Models that are scheduled to refresh intermittently fail with the errors:

  • "The job failed due to an unexpected internal server error. Please contact your system administrator."
  • "The source was not refreshed due to an earlier failure."
  • "Unexpected program error."
  • "The following error message comes from the external data service: status:400 body:{"error":{"code":XXXXXX","message":{"lang":"en","value":"The lock on the instance '&&' in the client " of the area '&' cannot be set, since no active version exists.
