2859427 - Hide Job title and Location fields in the search result for users without permission to view these fields

Symptom

  • If no permission/no data for a job title/location field in result set,  "No Data" is displayed.
  • If user doesn't have permission for these fields, all result set will show "No Data" under each person/employment
  • NOTE: This permission does NOT impact behavior of the People Search in the global page header

Reproducing the Issue

  1. In specific module page search (like Org chart search, EC search, etc.), search a user
  2. If permissions for  job title/location field in result set do not exist,"No Data" is displayed.
  3. If Data for the field  for  job title/location field in result set do not exist in the database, "No Data" is displayed.

Resolution

Job title and location fields in the search result will be hidden when you have no permission to view these fields, or when no data was maintained for them

notes:  Multiple employments under the same person are displayed as mulitple lines, but the name will only be displayed once before the employment records.

How to enable or disable this functionality?

JOB TITLE:

  1. Go to Admin Center > Manage Permission Roles
  2. Configure permissions to control the information in the auto-complete search result
    • For Employee Central users, find it in Employee Central Effective Dated Entities > Job Title
    • For Non Employee Central users, find it in Employee Data > Title
  3. Save your changes
  4. Log out and log in to make the changes effective

LOCATION:

  1. Go to Admin Center > Manage Permission Roles
  2. Configure permissions to control the information in the auto-complete search result
    • For Employee Central users, find it in Employee Central Effective Dated Entities > Location
    • For Non Employee Central users, find it in Employee Data > Location
  3. Save your changes
  4. Log out and log in to make the changes effective

NOTE: Once the logged on user does not have the right permission, job title/location will appear as blank and there's no option to get a prompt saying "No Data".

IMPORTANT NOTE: This permission does NOT impact behavior of the People Search in the global page header, which is controlled by a company-level configuration setting and not by role-based permissions.
