Symptom

Reproducing the Issue

Two ways of selecting the option "Import by overwriting existing data but skipping unchanged data (Recommended)":

1- Via SuccessFactors Instance

  1. Login to the SF Instance;
  2. Go to Admin Center;
  3. Search for Import Extended User Information > Background Information;
  4. Select "Import by overwriting existing data but skipping unchanged data (Recommended)".

2- Via Provisioning

  1. Go on Manage Scheduled Jobs;
  2. Create New Job;
  3. Select "Live Profile Import";
  4. Select "Background Information";
  5. Select "Import by overwriting existing data but skipping unchanged data (Recommended)":

Resolution

  • The new option behaves the same as the old overwrite function. The only difference is that if there are no change to a record in your import file versus the existing file, it will not be touched. Which means you still have to upload a full file everytime you are going to import.
  • Say you have imported Record A, B, C. Then you imported again with changes on B and C only, the system will change the last modified date of B and C but not A. But in your import file, all A, B, C records should still be included. That's the only main difference.
  • This is to improve the task efficiency of the job.
