Customer wants to change the Job Title field in JAM user profile to read-only
SAP JAM - All versions
Reproducing the Issue
- Enter JAM instance
- Go to your user profile > Edit Profile
- Notice that you can edit the job title field
The information contained in your profile is retrieved from SuccessFactors/BizX instance or the SCIM tenant.
The field visibility that you enter in the Successfactors BizX instance (via Manage Business Configuration or data model) will be followed, as well, in JAM. This means that if the field is read only in BizX, then once the Employee user file sync is triggered from BizX to JAM, then that field would also be mapped as read only in JAM. What is changed in the user file in BizX will also be changed in JAM.
The explanation is highlighted in KBA 2444187 - SAP Jam - Profile Data Disclosure Details - How to edit information
To disable the users' ability to edit the Job Title field, you will need to change the job title to read-only in the Successfactors BizX instance (1) via Manage Business Configuration page or (2) via Data Model. To do this, please follow the following steps below:
- Go to Manage Business Configuration
- Select jobInfo
- Search for the job-title field
- Click on Details
- Go to Visibility and set it to "View"
Afterwards, grant only "View" Permissions to this field (since RBP is respected here).
Or you can also edit the Data Model to change the visibility to Read only:
- Download and open data model
- Search hris-field with id="job-title"
- Set Visibility to visibility="view"
The steps should be done before exporting the files into JAM (before the nightly backend delta sync at 7PM data center time).
