How to configure

The Employment Differentiator object can be created from Admin Center > Manage Data. There is no constraint on the Code that should be set, as you can create more than 1 object

However, you can only create an Employment Differentiator object that has a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 values.

Adding Employment Differentiators to Indicate Multiple Employments (documentation)

Limitations

  • The Differentiators will be displayed for all Employment (regardless of whether the user has Multiple Employment or not).
  • If the value used for the differentiator is not available in the "current" record, then the value will not be displayed in the People Profile header.
  • If the end user does not have permission to see the value for the user they are viewing in People Profile, then the value will not be displayed in the People Profile header.
    • There will be not be any "No Data" text if the value is missing or the user has no permission. For example, if you have configured 3 fields - company, business-unit and department, but the user in question has no department value maintained, then only the values for the company and business-unit will be displayed.
  • Non-EC Users will display the default as before and are not impacted by this features configuration.

Permissions

  • Create: The object should not be secured. Therefore it can be accessed simply by the Admin user having permission to Administrative Permissions > Metadata Framework > "Access to non-secured objects"
  • View: To view the values in the People Profile Header, the end user must have "View Current" permissions to the Job Information fields configured in the Employment Differentiators object as well as that user in their target. This is something that can be configured if an "Everyone" role. Note: It is better to use an existing role rather than creating a new role just for this scenario.

Supported Fields

Any supported Job Information field that can be mapped. For a list of supported fields please see the Data Object Tables in Employee Central (handbook) > Job Information page

Unsupported Fields

  • Transient fields such as "country-of-company", "timeInCompany", etc are not supported
  • Deprecated or ECv1 Fields such as "hr-manager", "amount-of-financial-plan", "ern-number", "manager" (the correct field is "manager-id" if you intend to display the Manager name here).
