You have noticed that the employees are able to request leaves on non working days as long as the leave has at least one working day in it.
In this case regardless of your configuration to allow requesting on non working days you are able to request leaves starting on Saturday or Sunday.

Reproducing the Issue
- Select any employee;
- Go to his/her profile/
- Click in administer time;
- Add a new leave and make sure the start date is on a non working day;
- Now make sure that after adding the end date you have at least one working day;
It is possible to start and end a leave request on a non-working day but the deduction is calculated based on your work schedule and the time type setting.
There are use cases where you would simply want to request vacation starting from 1st of a month which may be a Sunday or you simply want to apply leave from Sunday to Sunday and then the deduction happens based on the work schedule and the setting on time type.
