2749797 - How to create and edit Category Pages rules - Recruiting Marketing

How to create and edit Category Pages rules.

Just as a reminder, rules are the criteria followed for the jobs to be displayed in RMK Category Pages. Through these rules, the system will understand what jobs to display in each Category Page.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.

  • Career Site Builder
  • Command Center

First of all, it is important to mention that Category Pages and rules can be created using two different systems:

  • Command Center: The RMK system backend, only accessible by implementation partners and the support team.
  • Careers Site Builder (CSB): The RMK administration front end system.

Having said that, please notice the rule editing/creation process will change, depending on which system was used to create the rule in the first place.

  • Rules created using Command Center, are fully editable in Command Center. In Career Site Builder, they will be called  "Advanced Rules" and can also be edited with a few limitations (compared to other CSB rules). The editing page will be displayed as a pop up window (to be seen later in the article).
  • Rules created using Career Site Builder, cannot be edited in Command Center, but are fully editable in the CSB system after the creation.

Rule creation in Career Site Builder:

  1. Open Career Site Builder;
  2. Click the "Pages" option;
  3. Click the "Category Pages";
  4. Click the green pencil beside the selected Category Page (or create a new one first, if needed);
  5. In the "Rule Editor" tab, create the needed rule and save.
    (Remember you may use the plus '+' sign to add different criterias to the search)

Rule editing in Career Site Builder (for rules created in Command Center):

  1. Open Career Site Builder;
  2. Click the "Pages" option;
  3. Click the "Category Pages";
  4. Click the green pencil beside the selected Category Page;
  5. In the "Rule Editor" tab, click the pencil beside the already created rule name;
  6. The system will see this Command Center rule as an "Advanced Rule" and will allow you a different pop up page to edit the rule criteria
  7. Once you perform all the needed changes, click "Confirm" and "Save".

Advanced Rules creation in CSB :

With release b1908, the Rule Editor in the Category Pages in Career Site Builder includes an option to access an advanced rule editor which allows users to both create and edit advanced solr category rules the same as in Command Center.
For all categories, the cog menu will have a new option 'Add Advanced Rule'. If the category has an advanced rule already, the 'Advanced Rule Editor' tab will be visible immediately. After clicking 'Add Advanced Rule', the user will be taken to the 'Advanced Rule Editor' tab, which will be made visible (if it was not already visible).

Considerations and expected behaviours:

  • When an advanced rule has been created, new "Advanced Rules Editor" tab is displayed
  • If all the advanced rules have been deleted, the tabbed menu for "Advanced Rule" will be removed.
  • Do not create advanced rules unless you have knowledge of the Solr schema and syntax.
  • A maximum of 4000 characters can be used to create advanced rules.  Advanced Rules are built using Solr and need to follow the Solr Syntax:
  • The 'category' CSB permission controls everything related to category (including both simple rules and advanced rules).
