2728231 - Validation of Advanced Formula returns "Member not found" error in level-based hierarchy in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)

Issue: when referencing a level-based hierarchy in a MEMBERSET = BASEMEMBER statement validation returns error "Member not found" if selecting first level member. Selecting second level member validates without error.

Issue seems to be only in validation as the formula in both cases returns data in a story.

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2018.22.1

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create a dimension with a level-based hierarchy
  2. Create a Data Action and add an Advanced Formula action.
  3. Add a MEMBERSET function referencing the BASEMEMBER of the level-based hierarchy: MEMBERSET [d/DimensionName]=BASEMEMBER([d/DimensionName].[h/HierarchyName] ,"[FirstLevelMember]" )
  4. Validate. You will get the error "Member '[FirstLevelMember]' not found.
  5. Now modify the BASEMEMEBER and reference a second level member: MEMBERSET [d/DimensionName]=BASEMEMBER([d/DimensionName].[h/HierarchyName] ,"[FirstLevelMember].[SecondLevelMember]" ) and validate.
  6. This will succeed without error
