2710900 - Forward propagation Pay Component Recurring

Symptom

We have added functionality for SuccessFactors b1811 version. With these enhancements, when forward propagation for Compensation information imports is enabled:

1. Newly added Pay Component Recurring import will forward propagate.

2. DELIMIT of Pay Component Recurring import will forward propagate.

3. Pay Component Recurring correction import will NOT forward propagate (existing behavior): Please do corrections with the effective dated records past the record that you've corrected if this is applicable.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite
  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central

Cause

Missing functionality has been identified that led to these enhancements.

Resolution

Scenario 1

Newly added Pay Component Recurring import will forward propagate.

  • Record 1: 01/01/2015 has Pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,460.88
  • Record 2: 01/01/2016 has pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,525.49
    KBA 1-1.png
  1. Insert a new Compensation information record effective from 12/01/2015 in between Record 1 and Record 2 via import.
    KBA 1-2.png
    KBA 1-3.png

  2. Now, import a new pay component recurring record and link it to compensation information record as of 12/01/2015 (created above). In our test example: Pay Component Code is MEAL_DE, Amount is 200, currency is EUR and Frequency is Monthly.
    KBA 1-4.png
  • Result: Newly added Pay Component Recurring record imported for Compensation information Dec 01, 2015 propagated to Jan 01, 2016.

Please Note:

  • Forward Propagation only works for newly added pay components. When you insert a new Pay Component Recurring record, and the pay component value you're importing is same as of the existing records, the system will not update the future records.
Please see Scenario 3 for further information.

Scenario 2

DELIMIT of PCRs will forward propagate.

  • Record 1:  01/01/2015 has Pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,460.88
  • Record 2: 12/01/2015 has Pay component MEAL_DE with amount as 200 (To be DELIMITED)
  • Record 3: 01/01/2016 has pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,525.49

    KBA 1-6.png
  1. Prepare the delimit file – In our test example: pay component recurring import for comp record 12/01/2015 with Pay component MEAL_DE.
    KBA 1-7.png
  • Result: Delimited Pay Component Recurring (MEAL_DE) from Compensation Information record Dec 01, 2015 propagated to Jan 01, 2016 record.
    KBA 1-8.png
    KBA 1-9.png

Scenario 3

Pay Component Recurring correction import will NOT forward propagate (existing behavior): Please make corrections with the effective dated records later than the record that you've corrected, if this is applicable.

  • Record 1:  01/01/2015 has Pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,460.88
  • Record 2: 01/01/2016 has pay component BASESAL_DE with amount as 6,525.49

    KBA 1-10.png
  1. Insert a new Compensation information record effective from 12/01/2015 in between Record 1 and Record 2 via import.
    KBA 1-11.png
    KBA 1-12.png

  2. Now, import pay component recurring with pay component, in our test example: as BASESAL_DE and link it to comp record as of 12/01/2015 (created above). Change the amount from 6,460.88 -> 6,530.88 and Currency from EUR to USD.
    KBA 1-13.png
  • Result: Pay Component recurring didn't propagate to Jan 01, 2016 record (expected behavior).
    KBA 1-14.png
  • As forward propagation for existing pay components does not work on import in order to carry out this action, you must incrementally update all future records with the new value.
    This is done by
    1. Export the Pay Component Data for the user via an Person and Employment Export ad Hoc Report
    2. Prepare an import file with all the records of the user past the date you wish to make the change
    3. Insert the new record with the new value
    4. Update all corresponding values in the future records.
    5. Carry out the import in Incremental Purge, this will create the new record and update the value in the future records.
Please Note: You must include all pay components assigned to the user in the import even if you are only updating one of their pay components

  • One thing to consider for the imports:
If a user has any data issues with regard to having Compensation Information which do not have a corresponding Recurring Pay Component record on that day.
    • Pay Component data is associated with Compensation Information effective dated records. When updating a user’s Compensation Information record via the UI, the system will automatically bring over the Compensation Information and associated Pay Component data from the previous Compensation Information record.
    • If updating the Compensation Information via Import is required, importing Pay Components again for that Compensation Information record is necessary  2084794 - Updating Compensation Information Data for an existing user via Import
    • If this has not been done, we recommend you correct this issue and align the effective dates of both the Compensation Information and Pay Component Recurring.
To do this you will need to report on both the compensation information and recurring pay component information and correct either via a Full purge or Incremental import.
