2684070 - Cannot Change Name and Description of a Business Role

Symptom

When you try to change the Name and Description of a Business Role, you see that the related fields are greyed out and uneditable.

Environment

SAP Cloud for Customer

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Administrator work centre.
  2. Select General Settings view.
  3. Click on the Business Roles link.
  4. Find the Business Role and highlight its row.
  5. Click on Edit.
  6. See that the fields Name and Description are greyed out. 

Cause

Since the 1808 upgrade there has been a slight change to this functionality, meaning that it is not possible to change the Business Role's Name and Description as done in previous releases. This slight change in functionality was requested by multiple customers as this allows the personalization of this button, meaning that it can be enabled/disabled for different users. Please see Resolution for new steps to change the Name and Description.

Resolution

  1. Go to the Administrator work centre.
  2. Select General Settings view.
  3. Click on the Business Roles link.
  4. Find the Business Role and highlight its row.
  5. Click on Edit.
  6. Under the fields Name and Description, see button called Maintain Name and Description. 
  7. Click on it. A popup window appears where it is possible to change these fields.
  8. Change the field values as required and save your changes.
