2678793 - Open Task Found for Material XYZ; Serial Profile Cannot be Changed

You are trying to change the Serial Number Profile value for your material from Mandatory on all Logistics & Production Process to any other value.

1. Go to the Product Data work center.
2. Navigate to the Materials view.
3. Search for the relevant material, select it and choose the Edit button.
4. Select the View All button, you can see that the value in the field Serial Number Profile is Mandatory on all Logistics & Production Process.

When you try and change the profile to any other value you get the above mentioned error.

As the error message suggests there is an open task for the material. This task could be a Production Task, Put-Away Task, Pick Task, Replenishment or Removal Task.

You have to make sure that all the tasks in which your material is used are processed completely. You can search for the tasks in the relevant work centers. Once all the tasks are processed you will be able to change the serial number profile. Please ensure that the Production Lots in which the product is used are with status "Closed", as any other status will trigger the error message.
