2676357 - Variance in percentage calculated wrong in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)


  • When comparing a lower minus value to a higher minus value using the variance function and displaying it as a percentage, the result will be negative.
  • In case of displaying the same variance numerically, it will show a positive value.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Ad a variance to a chart.
  2. Notice that the numeric variable value is positive, however the percentage is negative.


  • The calculation behind the variance in percentage is (A-B)/B.


  • The behavior is by design.
