2657239 - Key Figures Behavior in KPI's

When working with a key performance indicator (KPI) in your system, you notice that the current value is being displayed as '0', however, when checking the report which the KPI is based on, the report is working without errors.

1. Navigate to the Design KPIs work center view.
2. Search for your KPI and click Preview.
3. Check the Current Value of the KPI.

In this scenario, the value '0' is shown instead of the expected value, according to the report the KPI is based on.

There are many causes which may cause this behavior when it comes to the KPIs, as stated in other KBAs. However, this issue might also be related to the specific key figure which is set in the Current Value section in the KPI parameters.

The key figure or the characteristic part of the selection which the KPI is using were added to the report via Add Fields (not via the report wizard). When added this way, the key figure or selection variable are technically not part of the report definition and the KPI cannot retrieve the key figure value.

Please ensure the following settings in the report which is used by the KPI:

• Add the key figure to the report via the report wizard (step 2).
• Add the variable to the selection via the report wizard (step 4, select Using Variable for the respective fields).

In case the KPI is showing the '0' value even though these requirements are fulfilled, you may also check the KBAs 2629746 - KPI Shows 0 or a Wrong Value and 2547529 - KPI showing wrong value which describe some additional scenarios when it comes to wrong values or 0 values being displayed in KPIs.
