How to change the VCAL notification body text?
SAP SuccessFactors Learning Management System (LMS)
Reproducing the Issue
The calendar invitation that is triggered when the user is assigned/registered to the scheduled offering is the notification template "SystemEnrollmentNotification", VCAL. The VCAL standard code can be downloaded through the KBA 2458858 - How to revert back a VCAL Template to the default, together with other system enrollment notifications.
The notification template code can be edited/seen following these steps in the LMS admin side: System Admin > Configuration > Notification Templates > Search for the template and access it. E.g.: SystemEnrollmentNotification > Messages > VCAL box.
In the VCAL code, the line "DESCRIPTION:<ESCAPEFORVCAL value="<&VCAL_DESC>"/>" is the one that brings the data within the invitation body text. This is the syntax tag: <&VCAL_DESC>.
It is possible to replace the syntax tag from "<&VCAL_DESC>" to "<&SEG-SUMMARY>". The code line of the VCAL notification template would be like this: DESCRIPTION:<ESCAPEFORVCAL value="<&SEG-SUMMARY>"/>. The title of the VCAL email will remain with the course name and the body text will bring following information:
- Course Duration
- Course Schedule
It is also possible to replace the syntax tag from "<&VCAL_DESC>" to "<&SCHD-DESC>". The code line of the VCAL notification template would be like this: DESCRIPTION:<ESCAPEFORVCAL value="<&SCHD-DESC>"/>. The title and the body text of the VCAL email will have the course name within it.
We recommend you to first perform the tests in your LMS Stage environment, then apply the changes to your LMS Prod. one.
