2611038 - Logic of header and footer for different locales

Symptom

  • What is the logic behind the header and footer for different locales?

Environment

 Successfactors Recrutiing management

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to admin center, then proceed on recruiting
  2. Go to one of the job requisition form and try to add a header and footer
  3. You will notice that there's a duplicate copy of header and footer

Cause

The cause of this is related with the language that has been used on the job requisition form. Please see the resolution below.

Resolution

Scenario 1.

If a header and footer created ONLY for any specific locale (say Eng US) with content in Eng US ONLY (NO content added/saved for ALL locale), then there will be 2 header(s) displayed when adding the header and footer in Job requisition based on the default language of the job requisition.
CASE 1: If the Default language of the job requisition is same as the header/footer locale (say Eng US) - then there will be 2 header(s) displayed.
- One for locale specified (Eng US) with header footer content as updated in English US locale and
- Other for ALL locale (default rule created) but content will NOT be displayed for ALL locale
CASE 2: If there is no Default language defined for the job requisition then also there will be 2 header(s) displayed.
- One for locale specified (Eng US) with header footer content as updated in English US locale and
- Other for ALL locale (default rule created) but content will NOT be displayed for ALL locale
CASE 3: If the Default language of the job requisition (say German) is not same as the header/footer locale (say Eng US) - then there will be ONLY one header(s) displayed.
- the one for ALL locale (default rule created) but content will NOT be displayed for ALL locale

Question: Why duplicate headers are displayed - meaning for ALL locale (default rule created) for what reason?
Answer: Display of headers in Job requisition details page mainly depends on the posting language of that particular Job requisition. So, if header content is saved ONLY for particular locale and in future if job requisition has to be posted in another locale (where in locale Eng US - user cannot understand) then this default All locale rule helps him to select and add the content to the job requisition. Also, user can go back and edit the same header content to that locale (say Chinese) and add the same to the job requisition if it is getting posted in Chinese language.

Scenario 2.

If a header and footer created ONLY for ALL locale with content in All locale, then there will be only 1 header displayed - ONLY for ALL locale and content will be displayed since it is saved for ALL locale irrespective of the Default language - Meaning in this case there won’t be any duplicates displayed.
Filter Rules for Header Footer:
If there are any filters applied to the header footer in any specified locale or ALL locale, then display of that header footer should consider based on the above two scenarios.
