2586974 - Values Length Restriction of 60 Characters in Report Results

You are looking to display values in a report, but you notice that this report restricts these values up to 60 characters, however, your business requirement is to display the whole value or text in the report.

In order to reproduce this limitation, kindly follow the step by step below:

1. Go to the Business Analytics work center.
2. Go to the Design Reports view.
3. Search and open the report that you would like to use.
4. Run the report.
5. Notice that the text values which are displayed in the report, even if they have more than 60 characters, are restricted to display only 60 characters in the report face.

This is currently the standard system behavior, since reports are mainly created with this limitation to ensure that there won't be performance or design issues on the report face.

Even though this is a standard restriction you still have the possibility to extend the text values of characteristics in the report, where the system defines a new limit of 1024 characters for each text value displayed in the report face. To activate this functionality, kindly follow the step by step below:

1. Go to the Business Analytics work center.
2. Go to Design Reports view.
3. Search and open the report you want to display more than 60 characters per text value.
4. Run the report.
5. Click Report Options icon (For Cloud for Customer) / Configure icon (For Business ByDesign), which should be located on the top right corner of the report.
6. Hover the mouse cursor to the Show Extended Text option and click Enable for Cloud for Customer. Click Configure icon and select Show Extended Text option for Business ByDesign. 
7. A warning message may be raised, asking if you want to proceed, select Yes.
8. Close and reopen the report to ensure that it takes the changes applied.
9. The report now displays more than 60 characters per text value if required.

Please note that there is the limitation for maximum 1024 characters which can be displayed in the report, since performance issues could be experienced if more characters were allowed. 
If you hover the mouse over characteristics with more than 1024 characters you should see the full characters (Internet Explorer and Google Chrome). Only for formatted text more than 1024 characters are shown and same can be downloaded.

Also, notice that when Show Extended Text setting is defined from Business Analytics work center, it will then be applicable for all users. Otherwise, if it is enabled from Analysis work center, it will be stored a personalization only for the current user.

If you add a variable to the selection which has values with more than 60 characters, you will not be able to select such a variable. The report will return the message 'Value ABC is not valid for variable XYZ' or 'No report data available to display; check the selection'. However, we do not recommend to use filters on text fields if the extended text feature is enabled. At the moment this is a technical limitation. The only workaround here would be to disable the extended text feature and perform a * search, if you are looking to filter data on text fields which have more than 60 characters. Our developers are looking into this behavior and try to improve it in future releases.
