2573342 - Saving Import Files in Unicode (UTF-8) for Question Libraries - Recruiting Management

Symptom

When importing question libraries, it is imperative that the import file used is in Unicode (UTF-8) format to ensure that special characters such as Chinese, Japanese, and Korean texts are displayed correctly in the system upon import.

Resolution

  • Using Microsoft Excel 2016
* Region Settings must be English US, otherwise the values might be separated by other symbol other than comas, and quotations might be wrong, and you might have to manually change it.
1. Go to Control Panel> Languages
2. Select "Region" on bottom left corner
3. Change to English (US)

    1. Open the import file.
    2. Click on File >> Save-As.
    3. Choose the Save as type CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) (*.csv)

  •  Using OpenOffice/LibreOffice
    1. Open the import file.
    2. Click on File >> Save-As.
    3. Choose the Save as type Text CSV (.csv)
    4. Enable Edit filter settings >> Save.
    5. A pop-up window will appear. Choose Unicode (UTF-8) as the Character set.
    6. Click OK.
