Serial Number Warranty Assignment is not removed when the goods are returned into stock from customer return.
Reproducing the Issue
Go to Service Entitlements Work Center
- Go to the Registered product View
- Select and Edit on Registered Product id ABC
- Navigate to Tracking Tab
The Warranty assignment is still visible, though the Product is Returned Posted to Own stock.
For Customer Return - Post to own stock, only the parties are removed, no change done for warranty information.
The reason being, there could be multiple scenarios after return like repair and re-sell. The warranty for re-sold products may be different from the original warranty. Also new warranty may be dependent on the original warranty information. Different companies can have different ways to handle the warranty after return. Currently system does not have a way to find this out. So we keep the assigned warranty.
Removing the warranty and assigning new warranty while re-selling have to be done manually.
This is the designed system behavior.
