2563339 - Project Task Unavailable in Employee's Timesheet

Symptom

You create the Project XYZ (XYZ represents the Project ID), in which you assign an Organizational Unit in the Team and Staffing tab.

An employee ABC (ABC represents the Employee ID) who is part of this Organizational Unit wants to record time against the Project XYZ. When they search for Project tasks belonging to the Project XYZ in the time sheet, only the header is displayed in the Value Selection.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Time Administration work center.
  2. Go to Time Sheet view.
  3. Search for ABC.
  4. Click Open Time Sheet.
  5. Select the date.
  6. Click Add Row.
  7. Enter the General Data.
  8. Go to Labor Information tab.
  9. Click on the Value Selection for the field Project Task.

Only the Project header is displayed for Project XYZ, not the Project tasks.

Cause

The system shows the list of project tasks in value selection of the Project Task field according to the following criteria:

  • The header tasks of the project where the employee is defined as team member;

In the Project Management work center and the Projects view, select the project, choose the Edit button. In Maintain Project, select the Team and Staffing tab. In the Team subtab there are employees defined in Team Members.

  • The header tasks of the project where the employees are assigned to the team's Organizational Units;

In Maintain Project, select the Team and Staffing tab and Team subtab. You can see Organizational Units under Team Members. The project header task will appear in the value help of Task for all employees in org units (you can see org unit's employee list in the Organizational Management work center).

  • The tasks of work package which the employee belongs to;

In Maintain Project, select the Project Plan tab and Gantt Chart subtab, select the below Work tab. Here you can define a row with team member and service, one row corresponds to a work package.

  • The tasks manually assigned in Adjust Worklist;

In Edit Time Sheet, you can select the Adjust Worklist button to add tasks where you is not team member or of which you do not belong to the work package.

Resolution

This is expected system behaviour.

As a workaround, if the Employee knows the Project Task ID, they can enter it in the field and press Enter.
