Symptom
Attributes in a report (the sub fields which come under the characteristics in 'Available Fields'), when added to Rows and Columns, cannot be moved up and down.
Environment
-
SAP Business ByDesign
- SAP Cloud for Customer
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Business Analytics work center.
- Open a report.
- Go to Available Fields tab.
- Select an attribute under a characteristic.
- Go to the Rows and Columns tab.
- Click the attribute.
The options like Move up or Move Down are not available.
Cause
The order of a field added as an attribute cannot be changed. It will be placed next to the parent characteristic.
Resolution
One can add the same field as a Master Data reference instead.
- Go to the Business Analytics work center.
- Open a report.
-
Click Add Fields.
-
Select the field from the sub fields.
-
This field will be added as a Master Data Reference eg: DEF(XYZ) where DEF is the field and XYZ is the characteristic.
-
Now go to Available Fields tab.
-
Select the field DEF(XYZ) from the list.
The same field having the same data will be added as a Master Data reference. Order of this Master Data Reference can be changed in the list of Rows and Columns.
Please also note that removing a characteristic will force the attributes of that characteristic to show inconsistent results or no results at all. An attribute cannot work without the characteristic in the view.
