2530506 - Duplicate Syntax Tags available in Notification Template, but do not pull back data

Symptom

  • Syntax Tag added to Notification Template via the WYSIWYG (rich text) Editor, but is not returning data
  • There are multiples of the same Syntax Tag

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning Management System (LMS)

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Logon to LMS Admin
  2. Navigate to System Admin > Configuration > Notification Templates
  3. Open the problematic template (example: Template ID is SystemEnrollmentNotification)
  4. Click "Messages" tab on left and click "Launch Editor" to launch the Rich Text editor
  5. Scroll the Syntax Tags on the left and note there is a duplicate
  6. Add both to the template
  7. When the notification is received, the Syntax Tags are displayed and not the expected data

Example: List User Names should list a roll-up of Users enrolled in a learning

Cause

A duplicate of the syntax tag exists in the database

Resolution

  • The duplicate entry needs to be removed
  • Please open a Support Incident and reference this KBA

Workaround:

  • Use the Plain Text Editor and manually enter a single Syntax Tag of one of the duplicates instead of using the WYSIWYG editor
