2478658 - Unable to connect to the BI Platform when acquiring OLAP connections via Lumira Desktop

Symptom

  • Unable to connect to the BI Platform when acquiring OLAP connections via Lumira Desktop
  • The error message :"Not Connected" appears when attempting to connect to the BI Platform

Environment

  • SAP Lumira Desktop 1.x
  • SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform (BI) 4.2 SP03

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to File > New
  2. Select "Download from SAP Business Warehouse"
  3. Select "SAP BusinessObjects BI Platform" from the connect to drop down box
  4. Enter  "<hostname>:6400" in the System text box
  5. Enter the BI user credentials
  6. Click the "Connect" button

Cause

  • The fully qualified domain name, domain name and IP address of the Central Management Server (CMS) host have not been declared in the hosts file

Resolution

  1. Open C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts in notepad
  2. Add a new line declaring the IP address, domain name and fully qualified domain name of the CMS. ie:
    <IP> <hostname> <fully.qualified.domain.name>
