When user search any item in the catalog , they will get below error screen:
The error reads:
'Sorry, we are returning too many results too slowly. Try a different or a more precise search phrase. For example, you can add words to your phrase to return fewer results faster. Issue encountered while searching on :'
This may also happen when performance a blank search without keywords
- SAP HCM suite
- Learning Managment system (LMS)
- User interface > catalog search
Reproducing the Issue
in the user interface > find learning tile
either click browse or enter keywords and browse
the error is thrown after some time
1. If the current locale Useby option is set to "Admin" . Then user won't be able to search anything in the catalog and end up with the above error screen.
2. This is a catch all error. While it is not unusual that a customer might see this once in a while, while the system is under load, if it is easily reproduced or happens frequently, then it needs to be diagnosed.
The best way to troubleshoot this issue is to reproduce the issue and record network traces so support can check the server logs. That will contain the underlying error that caused the message.
for cause #1: Set the current respective locale Useby option to both as shown in the below screen.
- Referenece > Geography > locales > search for your current locale
- Set the use by option to "Both" and click on apply changes
For cause #2: if the issue can be replicated at will, please collect netowrk traces and submit an incident with support for further analysis
