Transition Period is in use.
When an incumbent is in transition period, another incumbent can be assigned. When the old (original) incumbent is terminated on termination date, the position field 'To be hired' becomes true even though the position has an incumbent is already assigned.
The position should not have To be hired = True but it is becoming so because of the setting in Position Management Settings-> General Tab.
How can we make sure that the position is not shown to be hired when there is already an incumbent assigned after the old incumbent is terminated?
Reproducing the Issue
For a position “Sales_Exec_01_412”, have hired an employee “100282” on 02/Feb/2017, and terminate this employee through Take Action -> Termination, so that his Last day of service is 10/Feb/2017.
On 04/Feb/2017, have hired a new employee “100283” to the same position “Sales_Exec_01_412”,
So as of today “08/Feb/2017”, position “Sales_Exec_01_412” contains both employees – 100282 & 100283.
Now when the date change to 16/Feb/2017 and see the Position structure, we found that a new employee can be hired to the same position.
As seen inthe above screenshot, this position has a “To Be Recruited” symbol but this position already have employee on 16/Feb/2017.
This is as per the System Design
The "To be hired" field would get set to "Yes" with respect to the current employee's employment, so that once he/she is terminated this field "To be hired=Yes", even though the new employee is already been associated in the position.
It is working as designed since the system does not propagate "To be hired" status changes with respect to second position holder's records/any future records.
