How should date fields be configured in Succession Data Model (SDM) in hris-sync-mappings section?
Employee Central: HRIS Sync
Five formats could be supported for hris-sync-mapping when synching date fields from EC to EP:
<hris-field-ref refid="date-of-birth" date-format="MM/dd/yyyy"/>
Date with format: MM/dd/yyyy such as 04/13/1996 will be synched to EP field custom07. It is not related to any locale.
But if the format dd/MMM is used, then date like: 11/四月 (四月 means Apr in Chinese characters – here Company locale is Chinese) will be synched to custom07. It means if you configure date sync format as dd/MMM, MMM information related to the Company locale will be synched. (Apr in US locale, 四月 in Chinese locale.)
HRIS sync never sync data based on logged-in user locale for two reasons:
- Since data could be entered into system by import or API, and it will be synched by running HRIS sync job. And even if it's entered in UI, it will be synched by HRIS sync job when the job is scheduled to run. So it doesn't make sense to use user's locale to sync date fields to EP since HRIS sync job will run as an admin user.
- It also doesn't make sense to sync date format related to the user's locale such as Germany date format to EP field and then the Chinese colleagues or Japanese colleagues to see these Germany date format only because the data is updated by a German colleague.
