When you are moving the candidate to the Assessment status, it is configured to trigger the mail to the candidate and the [[APPLICATION_ASSESSMENT_PROVIDER_URL]] token is set to resolve the url, but the token is not resolving the URL.

The email template that is responsible to trigger mail to the candidate, should not be associated to the Status set, but only in the Requisition details page.
The email template that is responsible to trigger the mail should be configured in the Job Requisition details page under the Assessment section, where you will configure the status, assessment package, email template etc.
Only if the email template is configured in this section, then the Token is set to resolve the URL to the candidate.
If you have configured the email template under Edit applicant Status configuration the email will be triggered, but the Token will not be resolved. (it is not expected to configure the email template under edit applicant status set)
This is the expected behavior.
And the mail trigger will only happen at the first time you move the candidate to the particular status. If you move the candidate to different status and then move the candidate back to the same status again, the mail will not be triggered to the candidate.
