2352163 - Time Off: Rehire Accrual Calculation

Symptom

A user is terminated and Rehired in the same Accrual Year.

As the user left and joined again in the middle of the year, the expectation is that the user should get a fresh entitlement with the Rehire.

However, the system has calculated a different balance.

Environment

SAP Successfactors Employee Central Time Off

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Accrual for current year has been created
  2. The employee gets terminated in the same year, which leads to a recalculation.
  3. Now the employee is rehired again (within the same year)and recalculation does nothing, because it is not yet supported as per the current system behavior.

Cause

How does the time off calculation works during rehire?

Firstly, After termination all the accruals are removed because it is the booking to "remove" the original accrual booking. Therefore it is always the same number as the accrual posting.

Furthermore the recalculation is automatically triggered by the job info changes (termination, rehire, etc.). Indeed, The feature to terminate and rehire within the same accrual period is not yet supported. This functionality will be available with the b2205 release, with the Termination End Handling Feature.

This feature is currently only available on Early Adoption program for customers with b2105/b2111 releases. It will be General Available for all customers from b2205 release. Please see the What's New Viewier item: Termination End Handling Process in Time Off 

With this enhancement it will be possible to automatically clean up an employee's Time-Off-related data that exists after the termination date:

  • If the employment of an employee is terminated and the employee is rehired in the same accrual period, the termination end handling process ensures that the employee receives the correct amount of leave accruals upon rehire.

Workaround until b2205:

The account period until the termination date is correct. Due to termination the accrual has been recalculated.

And if a rehire takes place in the same accrual period, the customer need to work with manual adjustments until the end of the current accrual period.

Resolution

Please use the manual adjustment to post the number of leaves for the current accrual period.
