2326072 - Drill to detail not working in WFA

Symptom

Drill to Detail (DTD, D2D) is not working for a user.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Workforce Analytics

Cause

A number of causes are possible. It maybe prohibited by the user's access, or it may not be enabled for the specific measure, or the query may not be of a type which allows it.

Resolution

Check the following, in order.

Note: The ability to Drill to detail is controlled by the nature of the cube from which the values are shown - these are aggregations of the underlying data. To be able to Drill to detail you must have access to the lowest level of data in the tree. This means that DTD is only available if you have an Open Ended rule. The drill to detail query does not apply its own security, so DTD is not possible with an exclude rule.

  1. Use Admin - User Maintenance to determine the user's role within Workforce Analytics.  Then use Admin - Roles Maintenance to check that the action "Drill to Detail" is not restricted for that role.  If it is, either unrestrict it for the role or set the user to a different role that has DTD access.
  2. As the user, or another user in the same role, expand the Analytics menu to select Workforce Profile - Inputs - End of Period Headcount (or EOP Headcount).  Confirm in the Filters panel that an analysis option is active (e.g. Age), then click on a number in the table that appears under the charts in the default measure view, and see whether DTD appears for it.  If it does not, there is a general issue preventing DTD from working (or the role does not have access; see #1).  End of Period Headcount has DTD on every site.
  3. If DTD is not working for a specific query, edit the query to find out what measure is being used.  Exit the query and open that measure from the Analytics menu to see whether DTD opens in the default measure page as it does for End of Period Headcount.  If not, DTD is not enabled for the specific measure and you may need to request this, or use an alternative measure.
  4. If DTD is not working for a specific query and you have confirmed that it IS enabled for the measure, edit the query and select Design View (as opposed to Table View).  If there is not at least one element in the Rows section and one in the Columns section, DTD will not work for the resulting output.

If you still do not have an answer after all of the above, we will be happy to assist.
