2316362 - Frequently Asked Questions About the Google Maps Mashup

Symptom

Following you can find some frequently asked questions regarding the Google Maps mashup.

Question 1: Why is an API key required to activate the Google Maps mashup in Cloud for Customer and where is it found?

Answer: The API (Application Programming Interface) key is an activation code which is required to activate the service provided by Google. The key can be purchased from Google directly or in case this key does not work, Support can provide one after signing an amendment.

 

Question 2: Are HTML5, Silverlight and Responsive UI modes all supported with the Google Maps mashup?

Answer: No. The Google Maps mashup only supports the HTML5 and Responsive UI modes in Cloud for Customer.

 

Question 3: Can the standard Google Maps mashup be integrated in every screen in HTML5 and Responsive UI?

Answer: No. The standard mashup can only be used in the Accounts and Visits screens. If you wish to integrate Maps in a different view, you need to create a custom Mashup and activate it with the API key you received from Google.

 

Question 4: When opening the Maps view in the Account view not all Accounts are shown. Is this a system error?

Answer: No. This is the way the service works. It needs time to display all the Accounts and in some cases it can take several seconds until all available Accounts are shown. If you want to trigger a manual udate, click on Refresh from the Actions menu (cogwheel above the map).
