2313764 - Employee Central - Post Instance Refresh

Symptom

When performing an Instance Refresh, there are some points to take into consideration and possibly some actions that may need to be carried out post-migration, in order for the instance to work correctly. For example -:

  • HRIS Sync does not seem to be working for future dated transactions but is if the transaction is dated as "Today" or in the past
  • Pay Component Group Sums calculations in Ad Hoc reports seems to be old/stale data.
  • You encounter an Application Error pop-up when using any of the Hire / Self Service UI's after the refresh is completed

Reproducing the Issue

After an instance refresh (where for example, you have refreshed your Test instance with the config/data from Production) scheduled EC jobs will be recreated, but may fail if the Job Owner is no longer a failed user.

You may encounter some behavior issues in relation to Employee Central.

Cause

Resolution

The known issues/resolutions are as follows -:

  1. HRIS Sync does not seem to be working for future dated transactions > Scheduled Jobs need to be canceled and re-submitted
  2. Component Group calculated values in Ad Hoc reports seem to be old / out of date

 If you are facing the above issues or you can see the job is failing the job will need to be resubmitted with a valid Job Owner.

The list of jobs that may be impacted is below:

1. Daily HRIS Sync job is no longer scheduled

HRIS Sync does not seem to be working for future dated transactions but is if the transaction is dated as "Today" or in the past.

Please Note: If you have had data masking during the refresh, this is only applied to the EP (Basic User Data) and not the EC data. Once the daily HRIS Sync is configured or a Full HRIS Sync is ran, the EC data in the instance will be synced across to the Basic User Data overwriting the masking. 
You have the option to delete some EC Data via import, please review the Employee Central Mass Changes Handbook for further detail on how to do this.

2. HRIS PayComponentGroupSums job is no longer scheduled

HRIS PayComponentGroupSums Sync does not seem to be working and Pay Component Group calculated values in Ad Hoc reports seem to be old / out of date.

3. Workflow Reminder Actions job is no longer scheduled

Workflow Reminder Actions scheduled job is responsible for sending Workflow Reminder notifications - if not re-enabled the reminders will not be sent

4. Workflow Escalation Actions job is no longer scheduled

Workflow Escalation Actions scheduled job is responsible for sending Workflow Escalation notifications - if not re-enabled the Escalation notifications will not be sent

5. EC Alerts and Notifications job is no longer scheduled

EC Alerts and Notifications scheduled job is responsible for sending EC Alert notifications and creating Alert ToDo's. If not enabled, notifications created by saveAlert rules will not be sent

6. Offcycle Event Batch Processing Job is no longer scheduled

Offcycle Event Batch Processing Job is responsible for carrying out Off Cycle Event Batches along with the Automated Daily Hierarchy Adaption in Position Mangement.  will not be sent

 Customer Action:

  • As a customer, you don't have access to Provisioning. To complete tasks in Provisioning, contact your implementation partner. If you're no longer working with an implementation partner, contact SAP Cloud Support.
  • Customer must provide a written approval for above task and provide source and target instance company ID, Job Owner (must have full administration permission (RBP))
