2309488 - Difference between the number of applicants in RMK and the ATS - Recruiting Marketing

Symptom

- A job in my ATS is showing less candidates than the number of applications reported in Recruiting Marketing (RMK)

- Several people applied for jobs in Recruiting Marketing (RMK), but they do not show up in my ATS

Environment

SuccessFactors Recruiting Marketing (RMK) - All versions

Resolution

The difference between the number of applications showing up in Recruiting Marketing (RMK) and the ATS (Applicant Tracking System) is explained by the concept of an "apply" in RMK.

The number of applications in RMK is usually higher than the final number in the ATS because RMK counts as an application every click of candidates on the "Apply" button. Since there is no way for RMK to track if the candidate application was completed once the candidate lands in the ATS, this number only represents that the candidate started the application. Officially, an applicant will only become a real candidate once he/she reaches the "Your application has been sent. Thank you!" message (or similar, depending on the ATS), meaning that this candidate is now part of the Talent Pipeline and his/her application has been successfully received.

The RMK Dashboard, where you see the job application records and can run reports of candidate information in Recruiting Marketing, shows the users who have started the apply process in RMK and completed the Talent Community join process (if they are a new user). The difference between the number of RMK applicants and the number of applicants in the ATS reflects how many candidates dropped off at some point during the application process. Please note that if you are looking for full line of sight on this type of data, it is recommended that you use the RMK Advanced Analytics tool as it is much more robust for this type of reporting across both RMK and the ATS.

Summarizing: Recruiting Marketing will usually show more applicants than the real number of applicants in the ATS for the simple reason that some candidates start the application in RMK but do not complete it until the end, not reaching the application submission confirmation message.
