2302118 - Drop down list of associated objects not available after selecting a Position in PP3 New Hire UI

Symptom

When the PP3 user interface is enabled a customer finds the field objects associated with the position object are not visible in the drop down lists after a postion is selected during the New Hire process. If the position is not selected all the typically associated fields (like Department, Business Unit, etc.) are not shown in the field drop down list.

Environment

Employee Central 2.0 + People Profile (PP3) + EC Position Management

Reproducing the Issue

With the PP3 UI enabled:

1. Admin Center> Add New User

2. Enter all the required information leading up to the job info portlet where position is shown

3. Enter a position from the selectable position items in the drop down list

4. Notice all other fields asociated with position, like department, business unit, etc. do not have any choices available in the drop down list of each of the fields.

Additionally, you are unable to change the position to another position.

Cause

This problem was introduced with the release of b1602p8.

Resolution

Release b1602p9, to be released on April 9, 2016 is targeted to resolve the issue, however, as the fix is currently targeted and not yet confirmed the fix is subject to change.

The customer may attempt to work around the problem by not providing a Position code during the new hire process which should allow the other fields to be populated. In some cases, the required attribute for the Position field in Job Information will need to be set to "No" in order to allow the customer to advance to the next portlet screen without entering the Position code. The customer may then later go back into the employee record and add the position code once the problem is fixed. You can change the required attribute of a field in Job Information via the Business Configuration UI (BCUI) found in Admin Center > Manage Business Configuration. If you do not have BCUI enabled, Product Support can help enabling this tool, or if needed, can help make the required attribute change to the configuration.
