2281598 - How to search for user names with special characters by typing

Symptom

Admin cannot search for specific users whose names contain special characters :

Examples:

Andersen, Christian Østergaard
Burdziuk, Jarosław
Боровской, Андрей

Environment

Learning Management System (LMS)

Reproducing the Issue

Try to type "ostergaard" to find Andersen, Christian Østergaard.
No results are showing up.

Cause

The system uses UTF-8 characters set and will display search results for those characters.

Resolution

After testing we can confirm that these users can be found by simply copying the special characters from another source into the LMS search to find the users:
