The Applicants were able to submit the application, even after the posting expiry date.

The Candidate applied to the requisition and just have saved the Application and not submitted it .
If the private posting date is not expired and if it is still valid , then saved application can be submitted with that time , eventhough the Internal/external posting is expired .
Job posting details
Then Apply to the Job and then save the application .
Now the Job posting is removed , but still the private posting is valid
Which will allow the applicants to submit the Saved application .
PS : The screenshot refers to the Internal posting , this is also applicable to the External posting as well.
The Best practices is to have the private posting to have the same expiry date as that of the Corporate /internal postings , until unless you have a valid business reason .
If you have a difference in date, then this issue might come which is expected .
