2272657 - How to collect Network traces with Chrome Network Tool

Symptom

This KBA shows how to collect network traces with Chrome Network Tool, no needs to install any additional software.

Resolution

  1. Open Chrome Network Tools

    When you open a web application in Chrome, press Ctrl-Shift-I or F12 on your keyboard.
    Alternatively, click the ‘Custom and control’ button in Top-Right->More tools->Developer Tools->Network Tab
    Then the Developer Tools frame window will be docked on the bottom of Chrome.

  1. Enable Persistent logs option

    Check the box next to Preserve log

  1. Reproduce the issue

    You can use the clear button (a circle with a diagnal line through it) right before trying to reproduce the issue to remove unnecessary header information.
    Then, look for a round button at the top left of the Network tab. Make sure it is red. If it is grey, click it once to start recording.

  1. Stop capturing once you finished to replicate the issue

    Once you finished to replicate the problem, press the Red record button.

The record icon then becomes Grey:

  1. Save the traces as HAR file

    Save the capture by right-clicking on the grid and choosing "Save as HAR with Content"
