2220460 - Lumira Desktop can only be ran by a single user through Citrix XenApp

Symptom

  • When Running Lumira Desktop through Citrix XenApp only one person can run Lumira at a time.
  • When a secondary user tries to run Lumira Desktop simultaneously it doesn't start.

Environment

  • Lumira Desktop 1.28
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Citrix XenApp

Reproducing the Issue

  • Install Lumira Desktop on a Citrix server
  • Have two people run Lumira desktop at the same time.

Cause

As the Citrix User Profile Management (UPM) tool the user's desktop folder setting was not set to roaming, the users did not have a desktop folder set. Lumira requests the user's folder through the Java runtime. Java retrieves the user's profile directory by requesting the location of the Desktop Folder from the Operating System. As the desktop folder was not set Java provides the root of the OS drive as the users folder. This causes a locking situation where two users are unable to run Lumira simultaneously.

Resolution

In the Citrix servers UPM tool set the users to have a a roaming desktop.
