Symptom

Crystal Reports crash when exporting large crosstab to excel: Crystal Reports has stopped working

Environment

  • Crystal Reports 2008
  • Crystal Reports 2011
  • Crystal Reports 2013

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Create report with many rows, columns and summaries (~50 columns)
  2. Set the "Report export options" "Microsoft Excel (97-2003)" choose the "Column width based objects in the: Whole Report" value

  3. Try exporting the report to excel
  4. Observe that Crystal Reports crashes with a similar error:

Resolution

Solution 1:

In the "Report export options" choose "Column width based on objects in the: Page Header"

Solution 2:

Upgrade to CR2013 SP5 FP6.
