2085948 - Permissions - Manage automatic permissions by system roles - Succession

Symptom

  • I don’t want to have to update Succession Management and Matrix Report permissions for each manager individually, is there a way to automatically set those permissions.

Environment

  • Succession Management

Resolution

  • Yes,  there is a way!
  •  In  the permissions for both the  (Matrix Report Permission and Succession Management and Matrix Report Permissions) there is a third link for "Manage automatic permissions by system roles." Currently, the only system role available with this option is managers, so the system allows you to "Automatically grant all managers access. . Also, the only visibility setting available with this option is equivalent to "My Team" in the regular Succession Management and Matrix Report Permissions.
  • If enabled, administrators can still add additional scope to a manager's visibility through Succession Management & Matrix Report permissions, but they cannot take away the "My team" scope .You cannot take away permission to access the 9-box from individual managers if the Matrix Report Permission is automatically granted to all managers.
  • Users with no direct reports are not affected by these permissions, but if they gain direct reports they will immediately assume the special permissions granted to managers.

  • Note: this feature is not compatible with Adminstrative Domains.
    • To enable this functionality – From Admin Tools -> Manage Security -> Select either Matrix Report Permission or Succession Management and Matrix Report Permissions
      • Select the link – Manage Automatic Permissions by System Role
      • Check the box - Automatically grant all managers report permissions for their team.
      • Click Submit
