2084564 - Currency - Currency value dropdown number not changing with symbol - Compensation

Symptom

  • This Article describes what to do when you are experiencing an issue with your compensation forms where currency conversion is not happening even if the conversion tables are in place and configured. When you change the currency value dropdown, all that changes is the symbol and not the actual number. As such no conversion occurs
  • Why is the currency not updating when I change from functional to planner or local?

Environment

  • Compensation

Resolution

  • Please note that the following in an extraction of the attached word doc that will provide you a visual walktrhough of this issue.

  • The Planner sees an issue with the forms where currency conversion is not happening even if the conversion tables are in place and configured. When the planner changes the currency value dropdown, all that changes is the currency symbol and not the actual number. As such no actual conversion occurs
  • For instance: In USD currency mode
  • Then in Employee local Currency, the symbol changes but the amount is the same as that in US currency.
  • You have also checked the currency conversion table from the user interface and all conversion values seem to be accurate.
  • The currency conversion table from the user interface may not always show you the complete picture, there may be some incidents where the currency codes actually have spaces before or after them that you do not see. This would cause the currency conversion to behave as above.

  •  To Verify this is in fact the issue:

Alternative 1:

  1. In your browser, Right click on any section of the browser and select view source.
  • You will then be able to see the source code of that page.
  1. Locate the section called var convTable = []; (see below). You will be able to spot the currencies with spaces after them for example USD.

Alternative 2:

  1. Export the currency conversion table via admin tools-> Manage Currency Conversion Rate Tables
  1. Open the exported file using a text editor such as notepad.
  1. Confirm that there are no spaces between the currency code and the commas

To correct the Issue:

  1. Export the currency conversion table via admin tools-> Manage Currency Conversion Rate Tables
  1. Remove all the spaces and reimport the currency conversion table.
