2083569 - What is the Difference Between a Blog, Wiki and Discussion? - SAP Jam

  • What is the Difference Between a Blog, Wiki and Discussion?

  • SAP Jam.

  • A wiki is a place where multiple people can collaborate and contribute to the same piece of information.  Further, this information can be kept current because anyone (either the people in a group or anyone in the company depending on where the wiki was made), can edit the wiki and make sure it is up to date.
  • Because they're so easy for multiple people to update, wikis are amazingly versatile.  Plan meeting agendas, record meeting notes, post FAQs, even track goals and deadlines for simple project management - Wikis have thousands of uses.
  • A blog conveys information that an individual wants to publish that is not editable by anyone else.  People can comment on a blog post, but this is not a necessity.  Use a blog in place of a wiki any time you want your information to remain unedited by anyone but yourself.
  • A discussion is a place to put information where you want to solicit the opinions of other people and discuss the subject.  An example of this is a conversation about an upcoming business deal that you would like to discuss.
