During the Wizard setup of a new Joined Data Source, You came to realize that when you Add a data source, there is a button named Deselect All in order to uncheck the box selection for all characteristics available. On the other hand, it does not have the button Select All as you can see when creating a new Combined Data Source for instance.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Business Analytics
- Go to Design Data Source
- Click on New | Joined Data Source
- In the next prompt screen, click on Add Data Source
- Select the desired Data Source from the list
All Characteristic come already checked for selection and you do not have the option to Deselect All at once. Instead, you need to uncheck one by one.
It's a system behavior.
This behavior exists in order to avoid unnecessary selections of several characteristics when selecting. The Join condition requires a matching between the Data Type of each characteristics and it demands more assertiveness to build up a proper Join condition so that you can get accurate results.
That's why, for Combined Data Source, where the logical concept is based on data stack, there is no restriction and the Select All button is available.
