  • Translations for Foundation Objects can be managed individually through the application or via import. Foundation Object are key elements of your data structure. Most foundation objects are effective dated and careful consideration should be made if you are “Making a Correction” or “Inserting a New Record”. Any changes should be tested in your test instance prior to performing any large scale updates.


  • Managing translations individually – Generally recommended for individual maintenance of on going changes

                Navigate to Admin Tools > Manage Organization, Pay and Job Structures

                Open a Foundation Object such as “Legal Entity”

                Select “Take Action > Make Correction” or

                Select the Globe icon next to Legal Entity Name or Description

                A pop-up window will appear that will list all the language packs enabled, enter your translations as appropriate for each language.

                Select “Done”, then “Save”


  • Managing translations through Generic Objects Import – Generally recommended for creating or updating large numbers of translations

           - Download an Import Template

Navigate to Admin Tools > Generic Objects Import/Export

Select “Download Data Import File Template > “FoTranslation”

You will be prompted “Fill the download template with existing data?” - select “yes”

This will produce a populated template with all foundation objects and their translations

The file can be retrieved by navigating to Admin Tools> Monitor Job

Once the request is completed, you can download the file and make the needed additions to your translation values

KEEP a clean copy of this file in the event you inadvertently overwrite your translations


  • Importing your data

Select Admin Tools > Generic Objects Import/Export

Select Type = “FoTranslation”

Select File to import

Select the File encoding to match your data file

Select Purge Type = “Incremental Load”

Note the translation file is not effective dated, so there is only one translation per item

Select Validate – Confirm email notification

Select Import – Confirm email notification

Navigate to Admin Tools>Manage


  • Validate your imported data

There are multiple options to validate your translations

Export a populated template – verify that translations are present

Navigate to Navigate to Admin Tools > Manage Organization, Pay and Job Structures- Open a Foundation Object – Select the globe icon – verify translations

Change a user’s language and validate in the application, where appropriate (ex. Employment Information)
