2072107 - Manage Templates - Goal Numbering and How to Enable/Disable Indenting of Goals - Goal Management

This article reviews the numbering logic for goal plans and how to prevent goals from being indented, or enabled so they can be indented.

Goal Management

  • To enable users to indent goals to one or more levels, you must use the <obj-plan-numbering> element and have a minimum of three lines.
    For example:

  • The XML illustrated above will automatically number goals in the plan and allow a maximum indent level of one, e.g. 1.1.1. If goal categories are defined the 1st number segment will always reflect the ordinal position of the goal category.
The XML illustrated above automatically numbers goals in the plan as follows:

Users can left indent or right indent the goal by using the arrow buttons that will show in the goal plan.

To disable goal indention / outdention, remove the code block <obj-plan-numbering>.

After this code block has been removed but the Indent / Outdent button still shows up under Actions button (but just grayed out), check the the permission for="move" in the XML and see if there is any role permissioned for it. You can remove the role on this permission block to totally remove visibility to the Indent / Outdent option in the Action options. If customer needs the permission for="move", then there is no way to remove visibility to the Indent / Outdent option. It is there in this case but has no use since it is not clickable.

  • Goal Numbering does not apply to Group Goals.
  • If Team Goals are added they will automatically take the obj-plan-numbering placement of "1.1", replacing any previously added personal goals.
