You noticed that when a specific user tried to create an Incoming Check or an Outgoing Check the Currency field is not automatically defaulted and hence the Search Open Items button is grayed out. You compared this user's access rights with other users for whom the system derives the currency automatically but found no differences. As a result this user cannot search for open items to assign the check payment.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Payment Management work center
- Under Common Tasks, click New Incoming Check or New Outgoing Check
- Note that Currency field is not defaulted automatically as well as the other mandatory fields Company ID and Payment Amount. As a result the Search Open Items button is grayed out.
The automatic derivation of Company ID and Currency information in the Outgoing Check and Incoming Check screen is user-specific and since this particular user has never created an Outgoing Check or Incoming Check before, the system cannot derive user's preferences from a previous document. This is the expected system behavior.
The user has to fill the Currency manually when he creates the very first Outgoing Check or Incoming Check. The next time the system will be able to derive the Company ID and Currency information based on the data provided by the user in the first document. It's only required to enter the Company ID and Currency manually in the first Outgoing Check or Incoming Check created. That means if the first document you create is an Outgoing Check, then the system will derive your preferences when you create your first Incoming Check, and vice versa. Since the Currency information is a prerequisite to enable the Search Open Items button, in the creation of the user's second check onwards the button will be always enabled.
