When executing an Overhead Distribution Run you get a warning stating Rule XYZ does not contain any receivers.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Cost and Revenue work center.
- Access the Periodic Tasks view and Overhead Distribution subview.
- Select the run you executed and select Log Results.
- Select the Messages tab.
In the distribution rule, you maintain the distribution factors as such that a distribution happens from sender cost centers only if postings are made to G/L Account (Origin) ABC (ABC stands for the G/L account name).
For the period specified in the Overhead Distribution Run however, there are no postings made to G/L account ABC as origin.
You can run the report Cost Center - Line Items to verify the postings made to sender cost center to G/L account ABC.
In the distribution rule, you maintain the distribution factors as Based on costs.
This means that the shares for the distribution to the Receiving Cost Centers are calculated based on the Costs on each Receiving Cost Center.
There are no costs on the relevant Cost Centers for the specific period checked.
Therefore the error message appears.
The system is behaving as expected.
