1961701 - Cost Estimate Price Component Missing in Sale Order

Symptom

You are unable to enter the Estimated Cost on the Sales Order as the Price Component Cost Estimate is not available in the Sales Order. This estimated cost is used to determine the POC for Revenue Recognition for the Sales Order.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Sales Orders work center.
  2. Go to the Sales Orders view.
  3. Show All Orders and Find ABC (ABC represents the ID of the sales order).
  4. Edit the sales order and select the View All button.
  5. Go to the Pricing and Invoicing tab.
  6. Under this check the Item Pricing and Total Pricing Details.
  7. The Price Component Cost Estimate is missing here.

Cause

You haven't done the scoping settings required to use Cost Estimate Price component in the Sales Order.

Please Note:

The Price Component Cost Estimate in step 082 of your Pricing Procedure is only relevant for project based sales order items.
In sales orders the Cost Estimate price component is available for items of type:
Service - time and material (Project),
Service - fixed price (project),
Product - project-based,
Expense - time and material (project),
Expense - fixed price (project).

The Price Component Cost in step 081 of your Pricing Procedure is relevant for the other service items types and materials.

Resolution

In order to see the Estimate Cost in the pricing tab, You have to scope the option Price Specification in the scoping.

Steps to enable the Price Specification:

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Edit Scope.
  3. Go to 3rd step (Scoping).
  4. Select General Business Data > Product and Service Pricing.
  5. Tick the box for Sales Price Specifications.
  6. Go to Questions.
  7. Select General Business Data > Product and Service Pricing > Sales Price Specifications.
  8. Make sure that Yes is selected for the question: Do you calculate profit margins for service or sales orders and make them visible to your sales employees?
  9. Save and Finish the Scoping.

This change will only take effect in new sales order. In order to enter the Cost Estimate in the Existing Sales Order, you need to update the pricing in the Sales Order:

  1. Go to the Sales Orders work center.
  2. Go to the Sales Orders view.
  3. Show All Orders and Find ABC (ABC represents the ID of the sales order).
  4. Edit the sales order and select the View All button.
  5. Go to the Pricing and Invoicing tab.
  6. Under Total Pricing section -> Select Update Pricing - Completely (If you have not added any price component manually).
    If you have added any manual price component then select Update Pricing - Keep Manual Changes.
  7. Save the order.

Cost Estimate should now be displayed in the pricing tab.
