When you try to check or activate an Organizational Structure, system throws below error message:
Manager assignment failed; employee or service agent XYZ () must be assigned to an org unit in the structure as an employee before they can be assigned as a manager
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Organizational Management workcenter.
- Select Edit Org Structures.
- Highlight the Org Unit.
- Check or Activate it.
The cause for the error message is that there was a change in the Job for the service agent XYZ () in the respective org unit but this change is not yet activated.
For Example: Initially, the employee XYZ was having the Job ID A from DD.MM.YYYY to Unlimited. Now, a new Job ID B is assigned effective from DD1.MM1.YYYYY1 but this change is not yet activated.
So, in order to assign the Service Agent XYZ as a manager for Org Unit ABC then the change of the Job ID should be activated.
For example, if you revert the change in the Job ID back to A for the Service Agent XYZ, then you can able to assign the employee as a manager.
