You have a requirement to add Company Name and Department Name for some the Employees but it is not possible to update using Change Workplace Contact Data.
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to Personnel Administration work center.
- Select Regular Tasks view.
- Select Change Workplace Contact Data link.
- Here, the Department Name and Company Name are empty and grayed out.
The cause for the issue could be that you might have manually maintained all the Work Place addresses for the employees during migration as individual addresses but there no company or department is given and hence it is not mainatined and displayed .
This is expected system behavior.
Normally personal addresses is different for each employee and as per workplace addresses only building and room no varies and all other details are same and hence the business residences are referred giving individual room and building details.
As the company name and department name can not be maintained in the migration it is not fetching. You can use the business residence addresses and set other details. If you want to reuse the business residence address click on the value help of company and you can see two entries on selecting any of them you can set the employee addresses based on their business residence location.
